Spark Cycleworks

In Their Own Words

Spark Cycleworks, founded in 2018 and based in North Branford, Connecticut, specializes in designing and building high-powered electric mopeds and bike conversion kits. Their flagship models—the Javelin and Brute—are known for impressive specs, customizability, and bold styling, with riders praising their sharp frame aesthetics and electric performance. Beyond selling complete rides, Spark Cycleworks offers parts, DIY upgrade kits, and helpful maintenance advice—including video guides to assist with brake replacements, swingarm installations, and more on their website. With a test ride facility open most weekends, a robust social media presence, and accessories like helmet partnerships, they’re rapidly becoming a go-to destination for electric vehicle enthusiasts looking for DIY‑friendly, high-performance builds.

From owner: “We’re a proudly left-leaning company driven by values of inclusion, accessibility, and sustainability. We’ve worked with local officials like Representative Robin Comey to expand access to e-bikes in Connecticut—particularly through programs like CT CHEAPR, which provides up to $1,250 in rebates for low-income residents.

We’re also strong allies of the LGBTQIA+ community and are proud to have helped many queer riders get on two wheels—offering mobility, freedom, and connection through Spark bikes.

We don’t hide our values, even when it costs us business. We’ve lost customers for being open about our stance—but we refuse to compromise. We have halted dealings with many companies and partners that are known supporters of the current regime. We believe in showing up clearly and loudly for what matters, and we know that the community rooted in love, peace, and acceptance will always win out in the end.

Politically, our team is deeply anti-Trump—especially as current tariffs threaten small, mission-driven companies like ours. The reality is that nearly all e-bike components must be sourced overseas, as there simply are no American-made alternatives. These policies don’t help companies like ours—they undercut us.”
