Give a Cluck: How My Cluck Hut Is Challenging the System One Bar of Soap at a Time

Meet My Cluck Hut, a soap company born in chaos and built on courage.

When the world shut down in 2020, most people hit pause. My Cluck Hut hit go. What started as one badass bar of eco-conscious soap quickly evolved into a bold and unapologetically values-driven brand challenging the status quo—with suds, sass, and serious heart.

Dr. Jennifer, Trevor, and the team behind My Cluck Hut don’t just believe in sustainability, inclusivity, and equality—they live it. From their “Give a Cluck” community program to showing up in-person at pop-ups and protests, they’re creating a business that’s more than just clean hands—it’s about collective power.

This is the kind of small business that makes you believe a better world is possible—and smells amazing while doing it.

My Cluck Hut
LBC: Tell us a little about your business! What inspired you to start it, and how did your entrepreneurial journey begin?

Trevor: My Cluck Hut was born during the chaos of 2020, when the world felt like it was coming apart. Instead of staying on the sidelines, we decided to create something that stood for change. What started as Dr. Jennifer’s incredible, eco-friendly soap formula quickly became much more—a way to spread love, acceptance, and a better future, which we know is more important now than ever. Our soap is just the beginning. We believe people come before profit, diversity is our strength, and sustainability is non-negotiable. We’re not here to feed the machine—we’re here to challenge it, one badass bar of soap at a time.

LBC: What’s been your proudest moment so far—and what’s been one of the biggest challenges you’ve faced as a small business owner?

Trevor: Our proudest moment isn’t one single event—it’s this moment in history. We’re watching people rise up, speak out, and call bullshit on the unacceptable. Seeing folks find their voice and power, and knowing we’ve played even a small role in that awakening? That’s everything. And we’re just getting started.

Our biggest challenge? Hands down, it’s been pushing past our own fear and self-doubt. Finding the confidence to speak up—especially when the world tells you to stay quiet—is no small feat. But fear only wins if you let it, and we refuse to let it.

LBC: What values guide your business, and what issues matter most to you as an entrepreneur?

Trevor: Every value at My Cluck Hut is rooted in our core principles:

  • Integrity fuels our mission for meaningful, positive change.
  • Inclusivity means respecting all pronouns and honoring authenticity—always.
  • Adaptability keeps us growing; we fearlessly embrace change.
  • Courage is standing up for what’s right, even when it’s hard.
  • Environmentalism drives our eco-conscious choices for a sustainable future.
  • Diversity is our strength. Inclusivity isn’t a goal—it’s our norm.
  • Balance empowers us. Fairness guides us. Well-being thrives because of it.

The issue that matters most to me as an entrepreneur is equality, bar none.

LBC: How do your progressive values show up in how you run your business—whether it’s in who you hire, how you source, or how you engage with your community?

Trevor: Our progressive values show up loud and clear in everything we do—from supporting nonprofits through our Give a Cluck program to hitting the road for markets and festivals. Those in-person pop-ups aren’t just about sales—they’re about connection. It’s where we meet our extended Cluck family, share hope, and remind folks they’re not alone in wanting a better, more inclusive world.

"Fear only wins if you let it, and we refuse to let it."

LBC: Why is it important for small businesses and consumers to stand up for what they believe in—especially right now?

Trevor: In a world increasingly run by billionaires and corporate overlords, where the middle class is disappearing and the poor are treated as expendable, small businesses are the glue holding communities together. Supporting small means keeping money local, creating real jobs, and valuing people over profit.

And when those small businesses are also fighting for equity, sustainability, and human dignity? That’s when your dollars become a tool for change. Every purchase becomes a vote for the kind of world you actually want to live in.

LBC: Just for fun: What’s your go-to comfort show, podcast, or playlist while working? Or: Who’s your dream celebrity customer? 👀

Trevor: Honestly, it depends on who’s in the production room. If the team’s around, I’m vibing with whatever they want to hear. But if it’s just me? It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia or Rick and Morty—chaos in the background helps the creativity flow.

As for our dream celebrity customer… we’ve got quite a few, but this is Nashville, and around here, you don’t name-drop or get starstruck. We’ll let you imagine who’s getting naked with our soap. 😉

LBC: Fill in the blank: Being a small business owner is ___ but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Trevor: Being a small business owner is the hardest job with the least pay but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

“Supporting small means valuing people over profit.”
