Hi, I’m Tana — the maker behind Prairie Primitives Folk Art in Sacramento, California.
I’ve been creating things since I was very young and have been selling my work for nearly as long! Over the years, I explored many styles and materials, but I fell in love with the primitive aesthetic in the 1980s — and it’s held my heart ever since.
Much of my inspiration comes from a love of country antiques and antique textiles. I especially enjoy working with antique quilts, vintage fabrics, and aged materials to create primitive dolls, heart ornaments, and seasonal pieces for Halloween, Christmas, and Americana. I have a soft spot for Santa and snowman dolls, pumpkin folk, and Uncle Sams — and while I sometimes make multiples, I always add little differences to keep each one unique.
Everything is handcrafted by me in my smoke-free, pet-free home studio.
I like to say that Prairie Primitives is a collection of antique-inspired dolls and home décor made to bring a bit of the 19th century into your 21st century home. Thanks for stopping by — I hope you’ll check back often to see what’s new!
