I started Pencil Island a couple of years ago because I wanted to make a site about the joy of drawing and creating. While it was not practical for me to stock and sell drawing supplies, I found it was much easier to sell greeting cards and other fun stuff based on my looney drawings: I also make and sell pin back buttons, stickers, t-shirts and keychains. I really enjoy making the pin backs, it’s a nod to my childhood during the 70s when everyone was sporting a sign of the times in one way or another: scrawled on a looseleaf binder, stuck on a skateboard or covering a denim or leather jacket.
