Pea Lauer is a one stop shop for clothing, accessories and custom home goods that are tied together in a whimsical aesthetic, inspired by childhood memory and preservation. PL is a one-woman project by @isabellafiction – each item is laboriously and sustainably handcrafted by her. Products incorporate deadstock fabrics and vintage materials.
“Every Pea Lauer item is laboriously and sustainably handcrafted, by me, one piece at a time. I make clothing and accessories, as well as custom home “dressings” including curtains, pillows, sink skirts and more. I sell in limited runs, and I often incorporate deadstock fabrics and other vintage materials in my work. Recently I began making hair barrettes out of vintage chocolate molds, in the shapes of animals and geometric forms. I sell them online as well as in local markets at an affordable price point.
My work begins with a playful sense of design and is informed by delicate garment construction techniques. My custom work is done on a case-by-case basis, working closely with clients and their fabrics to achieve pieces they can live comfortably with and love for years to come.
For me Pea Lauer functions both as a living time capsule and a jumping off point for items I want to make, share and sell. Abstractly PL starts with my childhood memory and spans from Wiesbaden, where I was born, to Berlin, to Brooklyn. I’m inspired by fragments that feel deeply familiar and resonate, that come from out of the blue – a glint or synchronicity that catches my attention.”
