Hi, I’m Laurie Freivogel, the glass artist behind Kiku Handmade.  I’ve been creating screen printed, fused glass home goods and decor in my Chicago-area studio since 2004. Colorful, and contemporary coasters, serveware, and more are printed by hand, then fused in a glass kiln. My artwork features bold graphics, botanical drawings, pop-culture icons + quintessential city landmarks.

I’ve always promoted my “progressive” (I just call them humane!) values with designs that focus on being an ally, supporting equity and inclusion for all human beings, and fighting back against tyrannical “leaders” and their policies.  I have a collection of goods called Kiku for a Cause that gives about one third to one half of the retail price to causes like ACLU, Immigrant Law Centers, Abortion Rights groups, Planned Parenthood, World Central Kitchen, HRC, The Trevor Project, The Sierra Club, Take Back The Night, various dog and cat rescues and support groups. and more!  It’s just one way that I can try to feel less helpless in times that feel more like fiction than reality, and get some cool artist-made goods into your hands.
