Hi, I’m Jenna, the owner of Her Rooted Wellness. I started my small business out of both lived experience and a deep commitment to women’s health and empowerment. I’m a nurse practitioner and Certified Functional Hormone Specialist, and I launched my shop after years of working with patients and growing frustrated with how often women are dismissed, gaslit, or ignored when it comes to their health. Like so many others, I’ve felt the sting of being brushed aside, and I’ve watched as conditions that mainly affect women- like PMDD, EDS, lipedema, PCOS, and endometriosis- are minimized or left undiagnosed for years. It’s isolating, and it leaves women feeling invisible. I wanted to change that by creating fun, advocacy-driven apparel that sparks organic conversations and brings visibility to what too often remains hidden. Some of my favorite messages are from customers who tell me they met someone “out in the wild” who recognized their shirt, shared the same struggles, and in that moment they knew they weren’t alone. That sense of community is everything.
As the shop grew, it felt natural to expand beyond chronic illness and hormonal health into other spaces where women are too often silenced- like sexual assault and domestic violence. In addition to running my business, I recently completed my certification to work as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE). That means I meet survivors at one of the hardest moments of their lives, providing both medical care and forensic exams. It is sacred, difficult work, and it has shown me just how much visibility and validation matter. Creating designs that honor survivors and the professionals who support them – women’s health nurse practitioners, forensic nurse examiners, OB/GYNs, and others- is another way I carry that mission forward.
For me, this business has never been about just selling shirts or mugs. It’s about the bigger picture: giving women a voice, creating opportunities for connection, and sparking conversations that matter. It’s about reminding women that their experiences are real, their bodies are worthy of care, and their stories deserve to be heard.
At the end of the day, my why is women (& their supporters). Everything I create is rooted in the belief that visibility changes things- it chips away at stigma, builds community, and makes the invisible visible. Her Rooted Wellness is my way of saying to women everywhere: you matter, and you are not alone. When I first heard about Little Blue Cart while researching new platforms after Etsy was called out for allowing Alligator Alcatraz gear (a whole other issue), I instantly felt connected to your mission. I’ve already discovered so many amazing shops through your site, and it feels like exactly the kind of community I want to be part of. While my ultimate goal is to step away from Etsy and launch an independent site that fully reflects my values, for now it remains the best way to reach women, build visibility, and share this mission with as many people as possible.
