I started Clings to Love late 2023 during the time my 15 year-old daughter was injured with a torn ACL from playing softball. With no tournament or practice taking me away from home, I felt like I needed to spend my time finally building a side hustle to earn some passive. As I slept in my daughter’s room after surgery, I focused on a Post It note on her mirror that said, “You are loved.” She wrote it during a mental training session with her softball team over COVID. It reminded me of the time 20 years prior when I lived in a small studio and wrote my own motivational Post It and stuck it on my bathroom mirror. I wanted to change the Post It to something decorative, unique, and fun but not permanent. I wanted to provide a way parents and friends can share their love and support for others. I signed up for an online class and the teacher said clings were not going to make a lot of money, but it wasn’t about making money at this point. My mission became ensuring people knew they were loved, whether it was loved by someone else or loving yourself. My children know how much I love them, but not all children are told they are loved. Not everyone feels worthy of love, but everyone IS worthy of love, starting with self-love. The clings created were variations of “You are loved” as I had young children in mind. But as I began to brainstorm ideas with my focus group, someone mentioned affirmations, which I have since created in addition to snarky clings with cuss words all in the hopes of someone finding that one cling that speaks to them. My most popular cling is one that says, “I can do hard things.” Our clings with swear words also sell well.
