In 2022, I launched **CeramiPics**, a solo venture that specializes in creating custom overglaze decals for ceramics and finished ceramic ware, featuring personalized artwork, photography, or designs. The idea behind CeramiPics was born from my desire to combine my years of experience in the ceramics industry with my passion for personalized, high-quality craftsmanship. I wanted to offer an innovative service to artists, hobbyists, and businesses alike, helping them bring their creative visions to life through unique ceramic pieces.
My journey in ceramics began in 2002 when I opened my area’s first paint-your-own pottery studio. This was a significant milestone in my life, as it allowed me to introduce the public to the world of ceramics and provide a space where people could explore their creativity in a relaxed, hands-on environment. I quickly became immersed in the world of ceramics, learning everything from glaze chemistry to firing techniques, and gained a deep appreciation for the artistry behind creating functional and decorative pieces.
In 2007, I transitioned to a new role, joining the team of an international ceramic supply distributor. Here, I was able to expand my horizons further by training other entrepreneurs on how to open and run their own paint-your-own pottery studios. This experience was invaluable, allowing me to learn the business side of ceramics and hone my skills in training and mentoring others in the industry. I helped dozens of studio owners get their businesses off the ground, which, in turn, helped expand the reach and appreciation for ceramics as an art form.
When the distributorship was sold in 2018, I decided to switch gears and explore roles in other industries, feeling a need for a new direction. However, the pandemic had a way of bringing me back to my roots. The global health crisis reminded me of the healing power of art and creativity, and I felt a deep desire to re-engage with the ceramics community. This led me to open CeramiPics, where I could bring together my expertise in ceramics and my entrepreneurial spirit to offer high-quality custom overglaze decals and finished ceramic pieces to those who were seeking personalized art and decor.
Through CeramiPics, I’ve been able to reconnect with the ceramics world while offering a unique and innovative service. It’s been incredibly rewarding to see my work bring joy and creativity into people’s lives, whether it’s for personal gifts, commemorative pieces, or for artists looking to add a new element to their ceramic designs. With each custom decal, I’m reminded of the journey that has led me back to my passion for ceramics.
