the small business scoop

Bonnie was born and raised in Savannah, Georgia and even grew up in a turn-of-the-century Queen Anne revival house in one of the city’s old streetcar suburbs. She did not grow up wishing to be a tour guide, but she did grow up loving History. After a childhood spent performing in community theatre, she seized the opportunity when Old Town Trolley advertised a need for actors to portray “ghost guides” on their Ghosts & Gravestones Tour 20 years ago. After some time spent there, she left and was hired to do walking tours by a couple of other tour companies. She started her own business in 2010 and now gets to spend her days meeting people from all over the country and all over the world while fulfilling her need to brag about her home city. Savannah is uniquely beautiful and walkable.
Bonnie offers private tours that can be customized to a client’s preferences or needs. Guests can decide where in the Historic District we will meet (usually their hotel), how long the tour will run, and where it will end. She can even focus attention on specific topics if asked. Visitors who don’t mind sharing their tour can reserve space on Bonnie’s Slo-Vannah Saunter, which operates in the morning from 9am-12pm (to beat the heat). This tour covers a variety of topics, but hits all the highlights and also includes a break at a local café. Lightly Sauced: Raise a Glass to History is for people who like their education to be just a little bit tipsy. It’s a tour about the history of specific drinks that have been prominent at different points in Savannah’s history. There are four drinks included: madeira, mead, a mint julep, and Chatham Artillery Punch. The ticket price is all-inclusive. Lastly, Bonnie offers a live virtual tour for people or groups who cannot make the journey here, but will not let that limit their experience of the world.
