Rainbow Willard is an artist based in the foothills of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains whose work explores memory, nostalgia, and the quiet symbolism of everyday objects. Drawing inspiration from nature, childhood artifacts, and small moments that often go unnoticed, her work reflects a fascination with the emotional stories objects can carry.

Working across multiple mediums including colored pencil, acrylic, oil, and print-based illustration, Willard moves fluidly between fine art and small-scale works such as prints, decks, and illustrated objects. Her practice blends careful observation with imagination, transforming familiar subjects into playful, reflective images that invite viewers to reconnect with curiosity, memory, and wonder.

In addition to her studio practice, Willard is an art educator who believes creativity grows through curiosity, experimentation, and personal voice. She teaches high school art students and also leads classes, workshops, and community arts programming that encourage people of all ages to explore their own creative potential.

Willard holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education from Virginia Commonwealth University and also earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Business Administration from Gardner–Webb University. She currently lives and works in the foothills of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains, where she continues to develop new series exploring nostalgia, symbolism, and the natural world.
