Natural Culture Design is an interior decorating business local to the DMV area and based out of Baltimore, MD.

Founded by Maura McDonald, Natural Culture Design does not have one specific design aesthetic, but works across a range of styles depending on each client’s unique wants and needs. Rather than providing the cookie-cutter trends that may come and go with each season, Maura emphasizes getting to know you wholly to deliver a design that resonates with your individuality and lifestyle. Maura believes that each space holds a unique energy, which can be transformed through the use of color, texture, spatial layout, lighting, and added elements of nature. As an individual who understands the battle of mental health, Maura is passionate about the importance of how you feel in your space.

Natural Culture Design places a large emphasis on environmental impact and sustainability. For many years, Maura worked for several large furniture retail brands. While these positions helped inform her of many important aspects of the design world, the disturbing truth of the amount of waste produced by these companies still sticks with her today. During the design process, Natural Culture Design is enthusiastic in guiding and encouraging every customer to shop locally, explore vintage options, reimagine current pieces, and utilize sources such as Facebook Marketplace, retail outlet shops, and local swapmeets.
